Outdoor Lighted Waterfall – Overview

Here are the hard facts on this beautiful 3-tiered cascade waterfall:

  • Price: $132
  • Fountain dimensions: 19.4″ L x 15″ W x 25.5″ H
  • Weight: 33.5 pounds
  • Material: Polyresin
  • Voltage / Wattage: 120 V, 10 W, 118″ cord
  • Adjustable Valve
  • Pump included
  • Weatherproof

The Pure Garden Outdoor Lighted Waterfall is made from sturdy Polyresin and thus both weatherproof and extremely durable while minimizing weight.

The fountain has a nature-inspired design with three tiers of stones – two of which are illuminated by LEDs. Both the upper and the lower basin have an LED installed at the bottom. This gives the water a beautiful, laid-back glow at night.

Combine the beautiful design and the soft LED glow with the meditative, soothing sounds of the cascading waterfalls and you get a perfect patio decor.

Pure Garden Lighted Waterfall – Installation

Installing the Pure Garden outdoor water fountain couldn’t be much easier. Place the water fountain on a level floor, install the tubing that comes with the fountain, fill it up with water, and connect it to a standard electric outlet. That’s the whole magic.

If you’re using the Pure Garden LED waterfall indoors, make sure that you put it on a waterproof surface, ideally in a container that catches the water should it ever leak. You need to expect some spillage solely because this fountain has three waterfalls splashing about.

Pure Garden Water Fountain with LED lighting – Ease of Use and Maintenance

Using the Pure Garden outdoor water fountain is about as easy as it gets: You plug it in, it works. You unplug it, it stops.
This is also the biggest downside I see with this fountain: It does not have an on/off button.

After you’ve set up the fountain, there isn’t too much you need to do in terms of upkeep either.

About the only thing that you’ll have to do is to refill any spilled water before the pump runs dry. Running dry is bound to damage the pump real fast, so make sure to prevent that.

To prevent algae build-up and to keep mosquitos away, it has been proven effective to add a bit of bleach to the water. Every once in a while, drain the water completely and scrub the surfaces clean. That’s it.

Noise level of the Pure Garden LED lighted waterfall fountain

Some people have asked me about the electricity cost from running a lighted outdoor water fountain. This one here uses 10 Watts of electrical power, which means it consumes 87.6 kWh per year if you run it non-stop.

At the current (2019) average national electricity rate of 13.31 cents per kWh, this adds up to $11.66 per year.

Pump noises that drown out the trickling water are a problem with many indoor and outdoor water fountains. Luckily, the Pure Garden 3-tiered waterfall does not suffer from this.

The pump is quite quiet and does not interfere with the soothing melody of water trickling in this wonderful fountain.

What you will like and don’t like about this lighted outdoor water fountain

First of all, I have to say that I love this cool little fountain – and you will, too.

It looks absolutely stunning on your patio or near your entranceway. Especially at dusk or during the night, the faint glow from the LEDs embedded in the basins is beautiful.

Additionally, the soothing noises from the four cascading waterfalls on this water fountain are a delightful background/white noise for a dinner with friends or even just a relaxed evening on the porch.

However, I won’t gloss over the shortcomings of the Pure Garden lighted outdoor water fountain. The most serious of them all being that on the early production runs the build quality – or rather consistency – just wasn’t there.

A few of these LED-lighted outdoor fountains started leaking within weeks of purchase – some even right after unboxing. So if you plan on using this fountain inside your house make sure you put them in a tray that can contain any spillage that may occur.

So guess what the other thing that could give out on a water fountain with LEDs is?

If you’re thinking “it’s the pump”, you can relax. We don’t see a lot of reports of that.

Instead, it’s the LEDs. Which is interesting in itself as LEDs normally last for 1,000s if not 10,000s hours. I haven’t seen a root cause established for the LED failure on this fountain. My best guess is that the casing is not perfectly watertight on all of them and the water gets to the circuits powering the LED.

Lastly, the pump cover on the back of the Pure Garden lighted outdoor water fountain does not close tightly, so you want to put it up against a rock or something when you place it in the garden or against a wall. This is super minor, but just keep it in mind.
